Amanda L. Lewis, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the departments of Molecular Microbiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Her research combines sialic acid biology and bacterial pathogenesis to explore how members of the vaginal microbiome interact with each other and the host to enable colonization and cause disease. Her research has been recognized by faculty career awards from the American Heart Foundation, the March of Dimes, the International Glycoconjugate Organization and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. Most recently, she was recognized as a Distinguished Investigator by Washington University. Dr. Lewis has also acted in numerous capacities of mentorship and service to the scientific community in local, regional, national, and international settings. This summer, she will move her lab and research program to the University of California San Diego where she will become the Associate Director of the Glycobiology Research and Training Center.
